Trespa Meteon

The Trespa Meteon is a solid phenolic composite panel made up of layers of resin impregnated paper and an integrated decorative surface

  • Electron beamed cured clear acrylic resin filmed onto a pigmented or paper print decor layer and then pressed over layers of resin impregnated paper
  • The high temperature (approx. 300 F) and pressure (approx. 150X atmospheric) liquefies the phenolic resin in the paper and starts the thermoset curing process, resulting in a molded, solid, monolithic panel of high density, tensile strength and non-porosity

Advantages

  • Excellent weather resistance
  • Resistant to acid rain / UV radiation
  • High color fastness
  • Low maintenance
  • Impact resistant
  • Graffiti resistant
  • Easy to fabricate and install

Technical Guidelines

The following are technical guidelines for various types of installations.

Brown-Curved-Buidling

Radiused Panels

  • 8mm thick panels, exposed fastener system
  • “Plank” look – modules to be at least 2x longer than tall
  • Fastener spacing is cut in half
  • Tightest radius is approximately 14’
Mitred-Corners

Mitered Corners

  • 1/8” joint at miter
  • mitered panels to be no more than 3’L
  • fixed point of mitered panel to be at the   miter, and panel will expand away from miter joint
 Panel-Joints

Panel Joints

  • No less than 3/8” open joint; some fabricators/installers prefer a default 1/2” joint
  • Larger joints acceptable but will allow for more water entry and a joint closure should be considered – painted metal or contrasting color of Meteon as pictured

Panel Specifications

Thicknesses

  • 8mm (5/16”)
  • 10mm (3/8”)
  • 13mm (1/2”)

Sizes

  • 7’x14’ – approx. 168”x83”, 97.9 SF/panel
  • 6’x12’ – approx. 143”x73”, 73 SF/panel
  • 6’x8’   –  approx. 100”x73”, 50.2 SF/panel
  • 5’x10’ –  approx. 120”x60”, 51 SF/panel

Minimum order = 1 sheet of any standard product type; for non-standard products, the typical minimum order is 2500 SF

Types

  • Single sided – color one side, black non-UV back side
  • Double-sided – same color both sides
  • Varitop – color one side, White satin reverse
  • Duocolor – two different colors from same color family

System Types

All systems are mounted over vertical oriented, painted aluminum hat and j-channels. All systems require an open air cavity behind the panels for air flow and water drainage. All systems mounted over a specified WRB.

Exposed Fastener

Exposed-Fastener
  • Face fastened panels
  • Can be used with all panel thicknesses
  • Stainless steel mill finish or painted to match panel
  • Supplied by SFS

TS110 – Exposed Fastener Systems

TS110-Exposed-fastener-systems

Fastener spacing is based upon:

  • Wind load design criteria
  • Panel thickness

1 fastener hole per panel is tight, all others are over-sized

Other Types

TS110DC – Deep Cavity System -Provides depth for insulation or design look

TS110-285 – For NFPA285 compliance (>40’H), no change from standard 110 except for use of tested or equivalent WRB and air cavity to be no greater than 1”

Concealed Fastener

Mitred-Corners
  • Clip mounted to back side of panel and which hangs from horizontal rail mounted to vertical channels
  • Panel thickness must be at least 10mm

TS210 – Concealed Fastener Systems

TS210

Other Types

TS210DC – Deep Cavity System – to provide depth for insulation or design look

TS210-285 – For NFPA285 compliance (>40’H), modified to provide only ½” air cavity by filling remainder of cavity with mineral wool and use of tested or equivalent WRB

The entire Trespa® Meteon® product range is now available with PEFC™ or FSC™ certifications upon request. These certifications are one of the initiatives resulting from Tespa’s sustainability policy, by which Trespa shows its commitment to the use of raw materials from sustainable origin and to forest preservation.

70% Wood-Based Fibers

Wood is a natural renewable resource which takes up CO2 from the atmosphere around us. Trespa® Meteon® products contain up to 70% of wood-based fibers, most of which originate from managed forests which are recognized by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification™ (PEFC™) and the Forestry Stewardship Council™ (FSC™). These organizations encourage, among other ec0-benefits, that forests are sustainably managed, taking the ecosystem and biodiversity as well as fair labor conditions into consideration.

PEFC ™ or FSC™ Certifications Available

The entire Trespa® Meteon® product range–in all types, sizes, thicknesses, finishes and colors–is available with PEFC™ or FSC™ certification upon request, in restricted quantities and jurisdictions. Ask Trespa’s Customer Service Desk for PEFC™ or FSC™ certified products.

Long-Lasting Performance

Trespa® Meteon® panels are well-known for their long-lasting performance and reliability. Their closed surface structure practically withstands dirt accumulation, keeping the product smooth and easy to clean. These panels are ideal for prolonged exposure as they retain its appearance for many years. As a result, unnecessary repairing work, time and materials can be minimized.

Sustainable Procurement and Building Guidelines

The use of Trespa® Meteon® PEFC™ or FSC™ certified products helps you to qualify for public projects supported by the European Union’s Green Public Procurement as well as to obtain credits for the LEED certification developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. The use of PEFC™ or FSC™ certified Trespa® Meteon® panels also contributes to you and your customers’ Corporate Social Responsibility.
